Tentatively scheduled for October 2017
Triathletes will begin the race with a 2.4 mile swim in the calm waters of the East Bay of Canyon Lake California. After transition, an epic 112 mile bike ride awaits them during which they will climb to the top of Idyllwild, California (elevation ca 5,500 feet) before heading back to Canyon Lake. Before they return to the transition area however, they will have one more challenging albeit short climb (Ha! Goetz Hill) at approximately mile 98. Finally, they will run a hilly two loop marathon course in the private community of Canyon Lake. During the marathon, they will climb approximately 1,800 feet.
Please note that because this event is “underground”, there will be traffic on the streets, and there will not be any medical help available along the route. You will participate at your own risk. Before the race begins, there will be onsite tech support for any last minute bike issues. There will be support during the swim including Stand-Up-Paddle boarders, kayaks etc. During the bike leg, there will be three “fully stocked” bike aid stations and a SAG vehicle for picking up athletes who are not able to finish the bike leg due to technical reasons etc. Finally, there will be mobile aid stations (golf carts) providing nutrition etc. during the marathon and there are also four permanent buildings with water and restrooms for athlete use.
As with all endurance events, the event will be held rain or shine and no refunds or transfers are allowed.
